About

Preserving the word, building the community.

Sanatani is a community-driven platform for reading, studying, and preserving sacred Sanskrit scriptures — built with care, improved with your help.

तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय

"Lead me from darkness to light" — Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.3.28

What we are building

A scripture reader that presents Sanskrit originals alongside IAST transliteration, Hindi translation, English translation, and scholarly commentary — layered together so you can move between languages without losing your place. Every verse preserves its type, metre, speaker attribution, and commentary lineage. The Gita, the Upanishads, the Ramayana, and dozens more — all in one place, structured for real study.

More than a reader

Sanatani is also a community. You can bookmark verses, track your reading, follow other readers, and request scriptures you want added. This is not a static archive — it is a living project that grows with its community.

We need you

Sanatani is built by a small team with a large vision. We cannot do it alone. Every scripture added, every translation verified, every feature shipped is shaped by the people who use this platform. Your feedback is not just welcome — it is essential.

  • Request a scripture — tell us what text you want to read next.
  • Report issues — if something is wrong or missing, we want to know.
  • Spread the word — share Sanatani with anyone who would benefit from it.

For everyone

Whether you are encountering the Gita for the first time, a practitioner deepening a daily reading, or a scholar cross-referencing commentaries — Sanatani is for you. No prior Sanskrit knowledge is required. No ceiling is imposed on those who have it.
